I'm pleased to announce that I have joined the Spirit of America Friends of Iraq Blogger Challenge and have formed a challenge team, The TTLB EcoTeam.
If you are unfamiliar with SoA, here's a primer:
Spirit of America helps Americans serving in Iraq and Afghanistan assist people in need. We fulfill requests from American personnel for goods that improve the lives of local people and thus help advance freedom and peace.
We have provided school and medical supplies, sewing machines, hand tools, water barrels, clothing, soccer gear and toys in response to needs identified by American personnel. We contributed equipment to Iraqi-owned television stations to establish a better alternative to Al Jazeera. We helped Iraqi men whose arms were amputated by Saddam Hussein get a new start on life.
We provide timely and effective assistance where it is needed most on the front lines. The Wall Street Journal says, “Spirit of America’s organizational insight is to deploy the best practices of the modern U.S. economy - efficiency and speed - around the margins of the Iraq war effort.” The Journal adds, “Spirit of America and the Marines are a coalition of the can-do.”
I've long been a fan and supporter of Spirit of America; you may have noticed that there's been a SoA ad running on my adstrip for quite some time now. Jim Hake attempted to buy a BlogAd from me way back in March, and I told him his money was no good here at TTLB: I've run the ad here free of charge ever since.
Now, with the blogger challenge, I'm pleased to be able to assist the cause in an even more direct way. The EcoTeam is open to any blogger who wants to join and help in fundraising for SoA: if you'd like to join, sign up here.
And to keep things interesting, I'll throw in a bit of incentive: how would you like to have your blog listed at the top of the Ecosystem? Well, do all of the following, and your blog will sit atop the listings:
- Join the EcoTeam
- Promote the effort on your blog
- Donate at least $25 yourself to the challenge
Any blogger who supports the EcoTeam in these ways will have their blog listed up top on the Ecosystem through the duration of the challenge (it ends December 15) --- so the sooner you pitch in, the longer your blog will get to look down on the likes of Instapundit and Kos!
If you've satisfied the requirements and are ready for your blog to take its rightful place of fame, drop me a line and let me know.
And of course, we need donations from everyone, not just bloggers. So please, take a moment and give what you can to support the worthy causes that SoA is driving forward. Thanks for your support!
